Most churches revolve around a gifted preacher, a dynamic worship band and the race to grow as big as possible. In Axiom we've intentionally sought not to pursue that route. In 2009, four families took a big risk and moved from around the Northeast to root in Syracuse, NY. They intentionally slowed down to be present to each other and to the place they now lived. From the work of dwelling here, a church was being birthed that was community-shaped, discipleship-centered, mission-oriented, and neighborhood-rooted. They met as friends and grew into a faith community. Over the past 9 years they gathered for worship in homes throughout Syracuse as more and more people began to join the life of Axiom. Out of a desire to be deeply present on the Southwest side of Syracuse, Axiom has recently purchased a charming building,a Neighborhood Space, that will host public worship gatherings, a neighborhood coffee shop and opportunities to care for their under-resourced neighborhood.
